Love is not enough. I don’t care who you are or what you say, but if you’re even slightly realistic, you’ll agree with me. And I don’t mean that stupid cliche, “Love doesn’t pay the bills” or however it goes. I understand that love is important and love is such a vital part of life. But loving someone is not enough to fix their problems or to even fix problems that you have in your relationship. If there are a hundred reasons staring you in the face and telling you that you need to leave, your single argument of “but I love him/her” is not enough. People fall in and out of love all the time. Married couples fall in and out of love with each other, high schoolers fall in and out of some kind of love all of the time, you’ll fall out of love and then fall in love again. I guarantee that you will. But people don’t fall in and out of respect, or common decency, or gratitude, or violence, or abuse. Loving someone or believing that you love someone is not a good enough of an excuse to keep hurting yourself.
